Waltz and Promenade

An original score is available. It is in Peter Cork's handwriting using a black ball-point pen on ordinary manuscript paper. The 16 pages (8 sheets) are held together with a paper clip. The score is undated but Peter Cork gave its date as 1976 in a concert programme just a year later. There is also a photocopy of the same score in a yellow binder.

  The piece is scored for a small orchestra; First Clarinet in B flat, Second Clarinet in B flat, Bassoon, Side Drum and Cymbal, First Violin, Second Violin,Viola, 'Cello, Double Bass and optional Piano.

The discovery of a concert programme and a reel-to-reel monophonic tape recording of that concert gave a date of 1976 to 'Waltz and Promenade'

The 'Waltz and Promenade' is performed as a single continuous movement.

'A Concert of Music by Peter Cork' was given at Walsingham School on Friday, 15th July 1977 at 7:30pm.

  The Solo Instrumental Players listed that evening were:

Eunice Chen, Jenny Fargie and Dorothy Wassall (violins), Sally Winter (viola), Jacqueline Hodges and Beryl Parkinson ('cellos), Jennifer Davis (double bass), Naomi Dixon and Ann Goodchild (clarinets), Janet Goodair (bassoon), Nigel Jones (percussion).
